American Farm Bureau Federation

It takes the average American 40 days to make enough money to pay for food for his or her family for an entire year. To acknowledge American farmers’ key role in food affordability, the American Farm Bureau Federation organizes Food Check-Out Day. Every year on Food Check-Out Day, which is in mid-February, Farm Bureau chapters donate nonperishable food items to Ronald McDonald Houses around the country.

Since the program’s inception in 1997, when the Kansas Farm Bureau Women’s committee donated food to the Ronald McDonald House in Kansas, the program has grown to include Houses in almost every U.S. state. The relationship extends throughout the year through volunteerism, food drives and other fundraising activities.

American Standard donates new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC) to U.S. Ronald McDonald Houses. Other donated equipment includes whole-house humidifiers, as well as whole-house air purifying systems, which remove up to 99 percent of unwanted particles from conditioned air, and accessories such as touch-screen programmable thermostats.

Following each HVAC installation, American Standard volunteers host pajama parties and provide movies and games for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

RMHC receives support from McDonald's Corporation including free use of facilities, equipment and materials and other general and administrative costs for the global office of RMHC. Additional funding and volunteer support come from McDonald's owner/operators, restaurant and regional staff members, and suppliers.
